Somin Lim is actively working with Doyoung Lim as a collaborative duo in Melbourne. The duo has been making works concentrated in performance and video installation. They have been focusing on choreography that is not necessarily ‘dance’ or paired with forms of music but rather choreographs of natural movement.

The method of delivery has been a significant part of the work process. By using projectors and monitors they have expanded the exploration in the translation of space and image. With the action of replication, the pair aim to create something that has its own identity and is different from the ‘original’. This play on replication has been explored with the human body and objects translated onto surfaces as images (pictorial space and real space). They often reflect on the modern-day experience which is indirect and vicarious especially in this day of technological consumption. While the environment and process are relatively controlled, the role of the director, performer, and audience becomes blurred when an individual enters the controlled space.
